Happy #LGBTQHistoryMonth! Let’s make sure it’s as #intersectional as possible. #HastiinKlah

Hastiin Klah was a Diné Navajo sand painter, chanter, weaver and healer. There are four genders in Diné tradition and Hastiin Klah was a Nádleehi ("one who changes”). They were also widely believed to be intersex. Klah was responsible for saving and preserving the Navajo weaving tradition in the face of persecution. They played a huge role in the forming of the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe with respect to the museum’s design, implementation and curation. They also blessed its grounds. #HastiinKlah #LGBTQHistory #QTPOCHistory
